Sue Wheatley began her business on Anegada twenty years ago by cleaning conch shells and selling them to visiting sailors (she had limited time to do this because she was running the hotel with Lowell) Her first purchase was suntan lotion which quickly sold. Since the shop was sharing space with the office and the office space was being taken over by shop items, Lowell eventually built her a Gift Shop at the hotel and it soon earned a reputation as more than just the usual tee shirt and post card shop.
